52xCD-R media
27/08/2003
With CD-ROM drive manufacturers continuing to push the performance limits, optical storage media specialist Verbatim has once again risen to the challenge with the launch of 52x CD-R media. Now consumers can burn 700MB of data or 80 minutes of music in around two minutes.

52xCD-R media

Forming the storage backbone for the vast majority of computer users, CD recording technology is used for a wide variety of home and professional purposes, from music to photographs to vital data back-ups.

Verbatim has been able to achieve this new 52x speed, with error-free recordings, courtesy of its patented Super Azo recording dye technology. The Super Azo recording layer not only withstands the extremely high laser and rotation speeds of the latest drives, it also maximises their performance. Verbatim has paid particular attention to the durability and light fastness of Super Azo; tests show that it is more stable than most recording dyes and the least affected by ultraviolet light.

Super Azo offers high sensitivity for reliable high-speed recording and high reflectivity to eliminate read errors. The thinness of the recording layer is also critical. The thinner the layer, the higher its sensitivity and power margin, and the better its high-speed recording capabilities. But, the thinner the layer, the shorter the archival lifetime.
Verbatim succeed in keeping the thickness and improving the sensitivity and power margin, both guaranteeing archival lifetime and recording speed.

Key benefits include a superior resistance to UV irradiation, 100 years archival life (estimated value by in-house testing) and the lowest error rate across a range of CD writers. Verbatim works closely with leading drive manufacturers for certification with high-performance drives to assure users that data will be reliably stored at the drives’ full rated speed.
